Piwnica pod Baranami with the Support Group
December 21, 2011
In August 2011, the Krakow Association of Artists and Fans of the Piwnica Pod Baranami („Under the Rams Cellar”) started cooperation with the group financially supporting its artistic activities. The Support Group was organized by Wiesław Samitowski, the president of the Polinvest Board, a fan and long-term friend of the Piwnica, coordinator of the idea.
„Commemorating Piotr Skrzynecki the day before the concert held on the occasion of his birthday – in cooperation with the Piwnica Artists – the idea of starting the Support Group was born. It resulted from the desire to support the Cabaret in order to sustain its role as a cradle of artists and a pillar for cultivating timeless values for the benefit of future generations.
I believe that the over half-century long heritage of Piwnica Pod Baranami is a value, for sake of which it is worth to undertake joint efforts in order to cultivate the artistic phenomenon that is a source of unique experience. Hence the idea of the Support Group and creation – together with its members – of a long-term financial support programme of Piwnica’s artistic activities and the effective plan for its further development.”
[W. Samitowski]
Members of the Support Group come from various professional environments but have one in common – care for timeless values that make everybody sensitive and free, inspire to spread wings, teach beauty. It is the art and timelessness that inspired people, who in 1956 started the Piwnica and dedicated to it their not only artistic life.
The first meeting of the Support Group was held in September 2011. Its members agreed on the action plan and created foundations for sustained financial support of the beloved Piwnica.
